Author Interview/Blog Tour: Mieradome by Kate O'Hegarty

Mieradome
by Kate O'Hegarty

Summary: Mieradome pulls the reader into a unique fantasy world of faeries and technology, a different take on the Alice in Wonderland concept.

The story revolves around a young girl named Amavia who believes she is a human girl, but slowly comes to find she is a faery in the world of Mieradome. Slowly who Amavia was began to unravel to show the truth; the truth that she just may be the evil they need to destroy.

This is the first novel in a series, and gives a glimpse of what is to come for the main character Amavia. Fans of the Harry Potter series and His Dark Materials will definitely enjoy this adventure.

Sounds awesome, doesn't it? It was pretty much on my to read list as soon as I read the "different take on Alice in Wonderland" part. Anyway, Kate was awesome enough to answer a few questions for us:

What is your definition of love?

Love is finding a guy who loves you as you are when you wake up in the morning, without makeup (even with dragon breath.) Love is a guy who doesn’t play games, who calls you back within a descent amount of time. Love is being real and honest with the person you choose to spend the rest of your life with.

Which five books do you think everyone should read/would you recommend to our blog readers?

1. My House in Umbria by William Trevor
2. I Dreamed of Africa by Kuki Gallmann
3. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
4. Children of Dune by Frank Herbert
5. Leap of Faith: Memoir of an Unexpected Life by HM Queen Noor of Jordan

Which book do you wish you had written?

The Forsyte Saga by James Gallsworthy (check out the film that Masterpiece Theatre did, amazing!) My sister will steal my DVD’s of it, that’s how awesome it is!

What is the first story you can remember writing?

A short story about a family who lived in a tree-house (I think I had just seen the film Swiss Family Robinson!)

If you weren't an author, what would be your dream job?

I’d love to be living out in the country somewhere, or be a stunts woman.

Books being made into movies/TV shows has become popular recently, would you ever like to see Mieradome as a movie/TV show?

I’d love to see my book made into a movie, though in my eyes the best way to do it would be an animated feature.

If you could have dinner with any person, alive or dead, who would you choose and why?

I’d love to heave a meal with The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond and her ‘crew’ on the ranch. They all seem like very interesting individuals. And yes, they are currently alive.

What was the last book you read and did you like it?

I just finished The Science of Single: One Woman's Grand Experiment in Modern Dating, Creating Chemistry, and Finding Love. I really liked this book because it gave a real life account of trying ALL different ways to date and what worked for her in the end and what she learned.
