Discussion: Favorite Books

Right now, I've just returned from vacation and I took a bit of a reading break earlier this week, so I'm only half way through my current read and hope to have a review for it tomorrow. But for now...discussion time, yes?

After reading Beautiful Creatures, I had to evaluate my Top 10 books, something I mentioned in my review. So, I had to think about what exactly would be in my Top 10 first.

For me, my Top 10 Favorite Books would be:
1] Pride and Prejudice
2] The Time Traveler's Wife
3] Dreaming Anastasia
4] The King's Rose
5] Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side
6] The Iron King
7] Beautiful Creatures
8] The Heather Wells series (Meg Cabot)
9] Anything by Eva Ibbotson
10] The Dark Divine

Besides the first two, none of them are in an exact order and my last three might not actually be in the Top 10, but the Top 20.

Anyway, I'm wondering what your Top 10 Favorite books are. And of course this has nothing to do with the fact I need new books for my wish list because I just overhauled it. Not at all. ;)

  1. I loved the Dark Divine and it would be on my top ten list, too. Also The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Twilight, Sloppy Firsts, Cracked Up To Be, Wake, Second Helpings and How to Ruin a Summer Vacation would be along with it.

You had some great picks, too including Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Darkside which I really enjoyed.

  2. 1. Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken.
    2. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.
    3. Ice by Sarah Beth Durst.
    4. Willow by Julia Hoban.
    5. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles.
    6. Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers.
    7. The Iron King by Julie Kagawa.
    8. Gone by Michael Grant.
    9. The Dark Divine by Bree Despain.
    10. Rampant by Diana Peterfreund.

Only the first 2 are in the order. :)

  3. Morgan: The Hunger Games is on my wish list. I'm going to wait until all the books are out and I can get them all in hardback or paperback. I wasn't crazy about Twilight through.

Katie: Brightly Woven is on my list. I'm probably going to order it from Amazon once I get enough swagbucks to afford it.

  4. I'm going to totally cheat and include books that are part of a series as just one. These are my favourites right now (not in order, except maybe the first two):

    1. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
    2. Looking for Alaska by John Green
    3. Paper Towns by John Green
    4. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (series)
    5. The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
    6. The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
    7. Stolen by Lucy Christopher
    8. Harry Potter series by JK Rowling
    9. Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan
    10. Some Girls Are by Courtney Summers

Those are just my favourites right now, I change my mind about things a lot and I've read a lot of books so chances are I would've forgetten a whole bunch.

  5. Oooooh it's always changing, but I'd say my list, right now, is as follows:
    1. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - JK Rowling (well, the whole darn series, as well)
    2. Many Waters - Madeline L'Engle
    3. The Last Silk Dress - Ann Rinaldi
    4. The Rules of Survival - Nancy Werlin
    5. Sea Change - Aimee Friedman
    6. Amen, Amen, Amen - Abby Sher
    7. The Lightning Thief - Rick Riordan
    8. Graceling - Kristin Cashore
    9. City of Bones - Cassandra Clare
    10. The Dark Divine - Bree Despain

  6. I haven't read most of the ones on your list. I'll have to check them out.
My favorites are, in no particular order except for the first:
    Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
The entire Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
    Going Bovine by Libba Bray
The Lightning Thief Series by Rick Riordan
Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson
    Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson
The Schwa Was Here and Ansty Does Time by Neal Schusterman
    Unwind by Neal Shusterman

  7. At the moment these are more the first I can think of.
    Cast in Shadow- Michelle Sagara
    Hundred thousand kingdoms-N.K Jeminson
    Saving Francesca- Melinda Marchetta
    Heist Society- Ally Carter
Star of the morning- Lynn Kurland
    Inda- Sherwood Smith
    Ender's Game- Orson Scott card
    Grimspace- Ann Aguirre
    Mistborn- Brandon Sanderson
    Alanna:the first adventure- Tamora Pierce.

I can never have a true top 10 though.
I'd like to read The iron king it looks good.

  8. Great list! i really have to read the books on your list that I haven't read yet! :)

My list would definitely include Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles, Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, She's So Money by Cherry Cheva & Hearts At stake by Alyxandra Harvey!
