In My Mailbox (19) - Lanna

In My Mailbox is a meme started by The Story Siren and inspired by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie.

I got Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready from International Book Tours.

You can read the summary and my review of it HERE.

Now, onto the books I bought. :)

Pretty Little Liars books 1-4
by Sara Shephard

Summary of first book: Among the mega mansions and perfectly manicured hedges of Rosewood, Pennsylvania, everyone has something to hide—especially four very pretty little liars.

High school juniors Spencer, Hanna, Aria, and Emily have been keeping secrets ever since their best friend, Alison DiLaurentis, disappeared three years ago. But when the girls begin receiving threatening notes from someone named “A,” their secrets—the big ones, the little ones, even the long-buried ones—no longer seem so safe.

Unravel the Pretty Little Liars’ wildest mysteries in this special box set. But remember, nothing is as it seems in Rosewood...

-Summary from Harper Collins.

I've been aware of these books for a while, I just didn't have any desire to read them - they reminded me too much of Gossip Girl (didn't like the book, love the show) meets Private by Kate Brian (which I did like but lost interest in)... I'm not into reading books that seem very shallow/clique-y. BUT! Then I saw the trailer for the TV show and while the show might turn out to be different from the books, it did convince me to give the books a shot.

Here is the trailer:

I've been in this weird mood for poetry lately too so I got these:

Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman (the 1855 edition)
As I Walked Out One Evening by W. H. Auden

If you've read John Green's books, Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns, then you'll probably know what made me want to read these specific ones.

  1. I have the PLL boxset but haven't read them yet. I think they are quite like Gossip Girl (which I love), and I agree the TV show looks great! I hope it's shown in the UK soon.

    P.S. - Shade rocks!!

  2. Great books. Shade looks really good so I hope you enjoy it!

  3. I've heard of the series after the commercial showed, looked it up, and when I went to the library to get books, I found the series. Haven't read it though but I think it's interesting.
